Agree with your process as a meaningful way to select art for your home. Again, it comes down to what an individual is looking for. This is one source online that makes it easy and accessible. I can understand not everyone wants to invest time in hunting local art events, though that can be so rewarding too.

Buy a real piece from a local artist in your town, visit local ateliers and maybe you fell in love with an art piece and then it will always tell a bigger story hanging at your wall, because it is connected with a real person you know.
