\u00a0I saw hanging frames like these at a shop that were much larger and there was no way they would fit in my suitcase, as much as I wanted to take them home, and I hadn&#8217;t stopped thinking about them since. \u00a0Combined with the million photos I took while I was there,\u00a0it felt like a really good idea to print some out and make some frames of my own, and I&#8217;ve partnered with my friends at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/shop.usa.canon.com\/crafting?cm_mmc=printer-_-ref-3rd-_-crafting-homey-oh-my-_-crafting-DIY-hanging-frames\">Canon<\/a>\u00a0to show you how.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Materials<\/strong>:<br \/>\n&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/shop.usa.canon.com\/shop\/en\/catalog\/pixma-ip8720-wireless-inkjet-photo-printer?cm_mmc=printer-_-ref-3rd-_-crafting-homey-oh-my-_-pixma-ip8720-wireless-inkjet-photo-printer&amp;WT.mc_id=C126149\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Canon PIXMA iP8720 Crafting Printer<\/a> (the one that prints large!)<br \/>\n-printing paper (mine is <a href=\"https:\/\/shop.usa.canon.com\/shop\/en\/catalog\/matte-photo-paper-13x19-20-sheets?cm_mmc=printer-_-ref-3rd-_-crafting-homey-oh-my-_-ip8720-DIY-hanging-frames\">13&#215;19&#8243; matte printing paper<\/a>)<br \/>\n-basswood sticks (frame made from 1\/2&#8243;x1\/4&#8243;&#8221;x10.75&#8243; pieces, backings made from 1\/2&#8243;x1\/16&#8243;x10.75&#8243;)<br \/>\n&#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0006N73F6\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B0006N73F6&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=hoohmy-20&amp;linkId=56afe166e4519cd3f322dab221044f76\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mitre box<\/a><br \/>\n&#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00004Z2U4\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B00004Z2U4&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=hoohmy-20&amp;linkId=ecfbe63e54bf12725a47e94d48d3ecdc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">saw<\/a><br \/>\n&#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B004BPHQWU\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B004BPHQWU&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=hoohmy-20&amp;linkId=24b34ae2d743d86e5f6884df09102265\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">glue<\/a><br \/>\n-magnets (mine are 1\/2&#8243; in diameter)<br \/>\n-cord<br \/>\n-glue gun<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17437\" src=\"http:\/\/www.homeyohmy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Canon-iP8720-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"1293\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.homeyohmy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Canon-iP8720-1.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.homeyohmy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Canon-iP8720-1-400x575.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.homeyohmy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Canon-iP8720-1-768x1103.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.homeyohmy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Canon-iP8720-1-631x907.jpg 631w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I\u00a0have so many photos living on my phone from travels that aren&#8217;t doing me any good by staying on my phone. \u00a0If it weren&#8217;t for my\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/shop.usa.canon.com\/shop\/en\/catalog\/pixma-ip8720-wireless-inkjet-photo-printer?cm_mmc=printer-_-ref-3rd-_-crafting-homey-oh-my-_-ip8720-DIY-hanging-frames\">Canon crafting printer<\/a>, the chances\u00a0of me going to get them printed, especially in a larger size, is 0.2%. \u00a0Having consistently felt the magic and joy of physically experiencing my photos in print, it would not be an exaggeration to say that this printer has changed my life. \u00a0I adore\u00a0this printer, and it was my weapon of choice to print on a larger 13&#215;19&#8243; paper. \u00a0Of course, you can go with whatever size you want and adjust the measurements for your DIY frames, but for ease I&#8217;ll be detailing the measurements I used.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17413\" src=\"http:\/\/www.homeyohmy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/wood-pieces-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"1278\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.homeyohmy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/wood-pieces-1.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.homeyohmy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/wood-pieces-1-400x568.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.homeyohmy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/wood-pieces-1-768x1091.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.homeyohmy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/wood-pieces-1-639x907.jpg 639w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Using a saw and mitre box, cut 4 pieces of basswood about 10.75&#8243; in length each. \u00a0Glue the pieces together in the arrangement depicted above. \u00a0You may need to hold the pieces together for a minute or so until the glue sets a little and no longer needs reinforcement. \u00a0Repeat if you want a second frame! Let completely dry and go do other things like the next couple of steps.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17428\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I printed my photos with a one inch border, and since they were square, I used a paper cutter to trim off the excess paper at the bottom.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17419\" (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Cut the thinner pieces of wood into 10.75&#8243; pieces, you&#8217;ll need two pieces per frame, then glue a magnet on each end. \u00a0Let dry completely. \u00a0Note- these magnets from the craft store are barely strong enough for the hold this DIY needs. \u00a0Go with a stronger magnet. \u00a0 Neodymium magnets would be overkill, but something in between is great.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17426\" (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Glue a magnet on the backside of each corner of the frame. \u00a0With a glue gun, attach the ends of a piece of cord on the backside of the top of the frame. \u00a0Let everything dry completely.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17430\" (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Place your photo with the corners face down on top of the magnets, then attach the wood sticks with the magnets over the photos (two per frame). \u00a0This holds the photo in place, plus it gives you the flexibility to change out the photos later if you want.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" on whether or not I wanted to stain them and I think I eventually will, something like a deeper walnut shade.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full
