pumpkins are a great low commitment way to try out trends or designs. \u00a0Really. \u00a0Ombre, donut, gold foil, marble, cactus, this, that- put it on a pumpkin, enjoy it, then toss it when it dies. \u00a0Easy. \u00a0Just try it.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Materials:<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n-pumpkins, washed<br \/>\n-chalk paint (I used <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00N9J4E1K\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B00N9J4E1K&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=hoohmy-20&amp;linkId=ZZWUOUZLYKNSZI45\" target=\"_blank\">black<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00HO03790\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B00HO03790&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=hoohmy-20&amp;linkId=6RQIXCBGPIVVLQAV\" target=\"_blank\">white<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00HO03E5M\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B00HO03E5M&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=hoohmy-20&amp;linkId=E35ZEM6GI6LNPHMW\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;vintage&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0and got 2oz bottles from the craft store)<br \/>\n&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B001BF6MDM\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B001BF6MDM&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=hoohmy-20&amp;linkId=YLMK22AV5RBBC5YE\" target=\"_blank\">foam brush<\/a><br \/>\n-oil-based paint pen (I used <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B001PLKRZQ\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B001PLKRZQ&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=hoohmy-20&amp;linkId=VEHDQPXZZC3CKA4G\" target=\"_blank\">white<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B001K3G0V4\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B001K3G0V4&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=hoohmy-20&amp;linkId=MURQIMLVXN3WMNB3\" target=\"_blank\">black<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9335\" src=\"http:\/\/www.homeyohmy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Paint.jpg\" alt=\"Paint\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.homeyohmy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Paint.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.homeyohmy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Paint-400x267.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/>So this was my first time painting pumpkins by hand, and already we&#8217;re at <strong>tip #1<\/strong>: Use a dabbing motion to apply the paint to the pumpkin. \u00a0The way I&#8217;m showing it above streaks the paint around and will require way more coats to get opaque coverage, so save yourself time and dab (I did this later, it&#8217;s much much better). \u00a0The paint needs to dry completely after a few coats before moving on.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9338\" src=\"http:\/\/www.homeyohmy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/pumpkin-1.jpg\" alt=\"pumpkin 1\" width=\"600\" height=\"831\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.homeyohmy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/pumpkin-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.homeyohmy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/pumpkin-1-400x554.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/>Referring to mud cloth patterns as inspiration (search &#8220;mud cloth&#8221;
